Recycled Plastic
Using recycled plastic to manufacture products is an eco-conscious move that the Safety 1st® Nature Next™ team is happy to be making. Since the majority of virgin plastic is made using fossil fuels, using recycled plastic reduces our impact on the environment and helps to shrink our carbon footprint.
Some consumers may have concerns that recycled plastic will lose some of its strength in the process, but they do not have to worry. Recycled plastic products have the same durability and pass the same stringent quality tests that virgin plastic products have to pass. This means the recycled plastic panels on our Nature Next™ gates are of the same quality as standard gates, but better for the earth.
As a consumer you know it is important to recycle plastic drink bottles and milk jugs, but companies are beginning to get into the recycling action as well. Our own Columbus facility is a zero landfill facility. This means that over 99% of the plastic scraps left over from manufacturing our products is reused.
As plastic recycling processes improve and more municipalities begin to accept all sorts of plastic, the amount of available recycled plastic will grow. It is not hard to imagine that our children could grow up to find themselves in a world where recycled plastic products are the norm, instead of the innovation they seem to be now.
